Extention of a call of proposal: REG is looking for a consultant to update the Essential package of HIV care for migrants and refugees in the EECA region

Regional Expert Group on Migration and Health (REG) in Eastern Europe and Central Asia is pleased to announce a call of expression of interest for a consultant to update the Essential package of HIV care for migrants and refugees in the EECA region with described migrant-sensitive services and ToRs for relevant care providers.

Rationale: Migrants and refugees may be given a migration status that limits their entitlement and access to health care. However, international law guarantees universal access in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular with Sustainable Development Goal 3. One area of particular concern is the growing vulnerability of migrants to HIV and their lack of access to HIV care prevention, testing and treatment information Key population groups are particularly vulnerable to discrimination and other negative factors that affect their physical and psychological well-being and limit their capacity to seek HIV care, they often remain invisible to care providers and health authorities of the receiving countries They often live in conditions of legal uncertainty that deprives them of the opportunity to claim their right to health. The Regional Expert Group on Migration and Health recorded a growing request among service providers and public health experts to update and specify the Essential package of HIV care for migrants and refugees in the EECA region. This will allow to plan interventions and budget for additional programs.

Objectives of the project

Develop a toolkit with a detailed description of migrant-sensitive services and ToRs for relevant care providers.

Timeframe: 5 – 30 September 2023.

The long-term results will contribute to promoting a comprehensive system of migrant-sensitive system services in HIV care across the WHO Europe region and plan interventions accordingly.
