On January, 28 the Regional Expert Group on Migration and Health held an online workshop for journalists called “HIV, COVID-19 and Migration in Eastern Europe and Central Asia region”.
The main purpose of the event was to highlight the issues of Migration and HIV in the media context, to provide journalists and communication professionals with information on the topic og HIV and migration, as well as to formulate interesting topics for future publications.
The event gathered journalists, specialists from civil society organizations, AIDS centers, as well as international organizations from Belarus, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Slovenia, Tadzhikistan, and Ukraine, 25 participants, in total.
Experts from the UNAIDS – Snizhana Kolomiiets, Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Regional Expert Group on Migration and Health – Alexander Mordovin, Regional Expert Group on Migration and Health – Daniel Kashnitsky spoke at the event. Yekaterina Ivashchenko, a journalist who has extensive experience covering migration and health was invited as an expert from the media community.
The workshop was held with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
